As the Cleveland Browns get ready to host the Pittsburgh Steelers in a high-stakes divisional matchup, all eyes are going to be on the performances of all the Browns coming off of injuries as they try to stay afloat in the race for the AFC North crown. While taking these factors into consideration, we’ve got some bold predictions in mind for Sunday morning’s Browns-Steelers contest.
Browns vs. Steelers
Date: Sunday, October 31, 2021, Time: 1 p.m. ET
Stadium: FirstEnergy Stadium – Cleveland, Ohio
Besides the Browns’ offensive line being at full strength and leading the league in run blocking, Pittsburgh’s defensive line has become their soft spot this year. Injuries have forced rotational players to see too much playing time upfront, and teams have been able to take advantage of that. As much as we liked Joe Schobert when he was on the Browns too, he often lacked being a game-changer.
If the Browns are able to get to the second level regularly on the ground, I see it as a plus that Nick Chubb and D’Ernest Johnson only have to contend with Schobert. No matter what, though, you still always have to be careful about where T.J. Watt is on the field.
KEY INJURIES: Steelers are relatively healthy coming off their bye week. RT Zach Banner will likely be active for the first time since the 2020 season opener now that he’s fully recovered from a torn ACL in his right knee. WR Chase Claypool (hamstring) and LB Melvin Ingram (groin) were limited in practice this week but should play. … Mayfield will start after missing last week due to swelling and limited range of motion.
The rest helped and coach Kevin Stefanski said the QB “functionally he’s 100%.”… Chubb is also back, but Browns RB Kareem Hunt will miss two more games with a calf issue. … Browns CB Denzel Ward (hamstring) and WR Donovan Peoples-Jones (groin) are both out. … DEs Jadeveon Clowney (ankle, groin, knee) and Takk McKinley (groin) and DT Malik Jackson (ankle) all missed time this week and are questionable.
